THANK YOU //
I’ve always cringed when I spot Thankyou bottled water, even now talking about it makes my stomach turn.
I have explained many times to people raving about Thankyou water that the ‘charity factor’ was about ‘buying off your guilt’, so you can feel good about something bad.
Australians have millions of access points for tap water, we simply need to grab our reusable drink bottle. 🚰🚰
For those who don’t know THANKYOU is a social enterprise that launched in 2008 using the profits from their bottled water brand to provide access to safe water in underdeveloped countries. To date, they have given over $6.2 million to fund water access, sanitation and hygiene.
Solving the problem of more than 700 million people not having access to clean drinking water? Great.
Attacking the bottled water industry? Fabulous!
But NOT by creating an additional problem. Not by contributing to more plastic waste.
So to hear that they have changed tack and will discontinue the product is fabulous news.
Announcing you were wrong takes courage.
I’m keen to see the next step THANKYOU takes to fill the $ gap left by their bottled water.
I hope they continue to challenge the system and devise innovative ways to make the planet better for all.
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU. 👏💥👏
